This was one of the nicest gifts I have ever received! My one neighbor called me Tuesday after I got home from the hospital. She said she wanted to bring over our supper Wednesday night. I said you don’t need to do that you have enough taking care of the new baby boy. They have a daughter that just turned 5 this month and the boy is just over a month old. She said I want to and will be over with it at 5:00pm.
Her and her daughter showed up tonight with a complete meal for us. It was some baked chicken croissants with cheese topping, a salad of lettuce, tomatoes and onions with their favorite dressing. She even brought dessert, a cherry cobbler and some vanilla ice cream for on top! Her mother in law had baked the cobbler. She also brought some chicken and bean soup for me for later, she knows I like beans.
It all tasted good, I enjoy eating someone else’s cooking for a change. Now this young couple is not blessed with a lot of money. They inherited his Grandmother‘s house, my good neighbor of about 40 years. They have been here about two years now; he is still looking for work and she works at a department store. They have helped take care of his brother who has had epilepsy most of his life; he was in the Cleveland Clinic most of the summer until they could bring him home. Just before the new baby came his Mother had to have a heart operation and they stayed with her and his brother a couple of weeks until she got back on her feet.
Their daughter, December kept me entertained this summer chatting with me over the fence. She put on a fancy dress just to come over with her Mom and bring our supper.
This couple has endured a lot over the past summer but they keep their chin up and are happy! To think that she would take the time to spend their hard earned money and cook a meal for me and the wife; what a great gift!
