Dr. gave old Smoke the no sodium blues!!
« Reply #-1 on: August 21, 2012, 08:13:15 PM »
My Dr. has been trying unsuccessfully to get my blood pressure down the last couple of years now.

I really *&$#$@ up today and told her about the rubs and seasonings I use....bad move Smoke...bad move!!

She has me on no sodium (for a while) to see if my BP goes down.

As a good honest patient  ::) i ordered some no salt blends from Marshall's Creek Spices. Will keep you all posted if these rubs got any flavor!!

I've been down that road as well, things will turn around when you find the magic ratio of good to bad.

There are some Cajun rubs that are salt free.  Believe me, they have PLENTY of flavor.  Goya has a reduced sodium Adobo that is PDG as well.

Just watch for the 'salt free' things that have MSG.  There is still 'S' in it, and I won't stir that hornet's nest any further.   ;)

smoke - Start making your own rubs with little or no salt.  Then get a new doctor.

Smoke,

My Mother-In-Law requires a low sodium diet so when she's coming over I use salt free rubs.  Two that I've found that I really like are from John Henry.   Check out their website and look for "Heart Healthy #4" and "Judy's Favorite".  I recommend both, but I tend to use "Judy's Favorite" more often.
