Scaredey Doggie
« Reply #-1 on: April 01, 2015, 09:00:56 PM »
Storm is coming in. My doggie - who will protect me against any intruder is terrified of loud noises and storms... go figure...

Well a storm is blowing in and he knows it... I am in the basement office and he is curled up around my legs (the women folk are in Duluth for spring break.) Every time the thunder claps, he jumps and latches on to me... it is actually funny. He is a 100 pound big doggy - but a super chicken in a storm... :)

A couple dogs ago I had this brute (friendly) that kept bears out of camp on canoe trips in the Boundary waters, made sure a raccoon never walked the property, but when thunder happened....well he even looked embarassed!  Lol

My dog can hear thunder a hundred miles away.  When she curls up in the corner and refuses to move I know there's a storm maybe two hours out  ::)

That is the one thing I do miss about living in the high desert. They get some crazy thunderstorms!

My dog is the same way. Must be a natural instinct like my aversion to peas :P

My dogs have no reaction to shotguns fired right over them.  But one starts anxiety panting and sits on my feet at the first distant thunder roll.  The other—she isn't concerned.  She's quirky in other ways.

I had a Dalmatian that was scarred of storms at the first rumble she looked for a place to hide. My Cock-a poo now pays no attention to them. I remember I got up in the middle of the night to go to the pot. I was setting there and the shower curtain on tub moved, scarred the crap out of me  :o I pulled it aside and there was my Dalmatian standing there in the tub shivering, it was storming! Don

Too funny, Don  ;D ;D. In my case, I go to the loo and when I come back my doggy is shaking on my pillow (storm) I have to move his 80+ pounds down to the bottom of the bed so I can sleep.... yeah but he is my puppy!  ::) ::)
