Lunches for next week
« Reply #-1 on: May 17, 2015, 01:33:26 PM »
It was hot and muggy yesterday, humidity in the 90's ... The weather says it will be that way most of next week so I figured I would make something for lunches next week.
I also wanted to make the Hubba Bubba sauce so I did that as well. I found I liked it better with a little white balsamic vinegar added.
I had a corned beef point so I smoked it a couple hours and put some ribs on too.
All the trimmings will be dinner today along with corn I found for 20 cents each. It's the last of the early Florida corn and it is so good. I'm going back and get a box full today while they still have some.

Kerry likes the corn when I pre boil it first and then roast it over coals just to reheat it.
I'll have to post pics of that later. I think I'm feeling some jambalaya coming on....

We looked at what we spend if we eat lunch out every day. Its crazy( possibly a car payment some months) and the food is OK at best most of the time.
Then there's that stuff I tend to get when I'm in a hurry...and believe I'm starving for some reason.  I'm not sure some of that stuff is even food.
So a corned beef brisket was $10 and will feed us 4 or 5 times. Add in a tomato, avocado, a slice of cheese and bread and we both eat for $5. And we know exactly what we are getting.
Mix in the ribs one day, homemade burgers another, Jambalaya another and we've made the week... plus some.

We do that a lot too Terry. Load the cooker up when it's stoked. Grilled food out of the freezer tastes better than most restaurant food and like you say, you know what you are getting!
