American Hero Channel is featuring a great D-day 2 part episode with footage I have never seen before.

I never cease to be amazed at the incredible things the greatest generation achieved. Just incredible.

I hold this generation in tremendous regard.

I agree, my Dad was on the USS Nevada in every major battle in the Pacific. My uncle landed at Normandy and fought all the way to Berlin. I lost an uncle in Korea. While I know they were the greatest generation of Americans we will ever see, we also have to honor those great Americans who fought in Vietnam and those who are fighting today. God bless them all. I can sit here and have a cold beer and read the internet because they put themselves in harm's way to protect my freedom.

we are so fortunate that the generation that fought in WWII were men who had been toughened up by living thru the Great Depression.....I have the philosophy that this was key to the outcome of the war.

It also concerns me that if we had a major war today.......?

Tee, they are still fighting. No matter how big the battle is, it is still men and women who are standing there to take a bullet for us, just like you did. God bless you and every man or woman who put on the uniform of this country.

With V-E day last month, I rewatched Band of Brothers series and started reading some books on them.  One of them is a group book for members of E company that didn't do their own book.  The first chapter is how they grew up and most of them said things were rough in the depression and half of them didn't even finish high school before leaving to work.

Just goes back to the mindset of that generation, and how we won't ever see that again.  All members of the military past and present deserve respect and support from everyone.  We cannot do enough to remember those lost and honor those still with us.
