I feel like I should clarify my one trick pony comment. When I stated that it wasn't  because I feel like it can only cook chicken well. It does cook many other things very well. But it does chicken so good IMHO. Also it does not have much air control so it has a pretty standard temp range unless you crack the lid or leave out the rebar ect.

I have seen some amazing food come off of it. My best cooked chicken hands down. But my ribs on my pellet grill are the best.

So I have different cookers and each have their strong suit.

You should make the decision on what will best work for you. Eventually you can buy a second cooker anyways :P

I am with Muebe, while I do chicken primarily on my PBC, I just happen to like other proteins on different pits. The PBC can cook just about anything you hang in it  8)

As you can see by my signature I have plenty of grills and smokers to choose from. To me, each has its purpose. I really
like my PBC and the ribs I cooked on it the other day were fantastic. But if I had to choose any cooker in my arsenal I would
stay with my Blaz'n Grillworks Grid Iron pellet cooker. Again, it is my personal preference. In reality it is not the cooker that
makes our food great it is the cook! The cooker is a tool and it really depends on what you are looking for. My 2 cents worth.

I know everyone has been waiting and waiting for my armpit - opinion, that is.

I have an Akorn and I like it.  I can cook two whole beer can chickens therein.  I have also smoked 3 butts at the time.  I can cook 4 racks of BB ribs in two rib racks on the upper and lower grates...yes, it has two grates (one swings out of the way).  Lost Arrow taught me how to control temps, and using the snake method with the coals and wood chunks, I can cook a long, long time without raising the lid.  I like that it doesn't require a half bag of charcoal.

Oh, I found a pic of the ribs and mac& cheese I cooked together therein...something you might be interested in at some point.

But still...I wouldn't recommend one over another.  That's for you to decide.

just sayin'...

This video that Noah did "What is the PBC" is a good informative watch:

Never thought of the portability of the PBC:

Thanks for all the info. I ended up with the Vision. Was a return that the grates are very chewed up. Will get the KJ Divide and Conquer to replace. Firebox and ceramics all fine. $175, could not pass that up

Full disclosure, I know nothing about the Akorn. I purchased a PBC a few months ago, and continue to be amazed at how great it is. Prior, I had gone through a few inexpensive vertical water smokers, with mixed results. Two things have made me a committed fan. First, ALL cooking on it has turned out great. I've cooked ribs, butts, chicken & briskets on it, with fantastic results. Second, the PBC Co.'s customer service is second to none. The one question and one issue (of my own making) were resolved via e-mail within hours, not days.
