Pulled Ham in the CP
« Reply #-1 on: December 21, 2015, 12:44:22 PM »
Tommy did a pulled ham and asked for someone to give it try in the CP. The ham looked so good I am giving it a try.

I followed his method and glaze.

Not sure the BBQ Temp probe is really going to work

Used all of my Super pig, brown sugar and honey. Looks like someone needs to do some shopping.

Don't drop brown sugar on glass burners. Smokey

I'm watching you, RAD...

Your food always looks good and I'm real interested in how this turns out.

What size ham is this and is it spiral sliced?

just askin'...

This was about a 7lb ham semi deboned and not spiral sliced

Ham took about 6 hours on high to get where I could pull it. I put it in a tin pan with foil covering, proud moment here, my wife said do you want to put this in microwave for awhile? I almost shed a tear  ;)

The glaze has a real nice flavor and I will use it again when doing a regular ham, I think I need to reduce it more. Now for the ham, Like Tommy said, not pulled pork, but it does have its own unique flavor that is nice but was a bit dry for what I like. It will make great greens and was really good in my eggs this morning. I will freeze some for quick meals.

Thanks for the pics and cook!

Both you and Tommy say it's not pulled pork - but to me that is ok. If I want pulled pork, I'll make pulled pork. BUT, I do love ham, so this is interesting - what can we do with a ham to bring out its unique flavor and texture beyond the regular baking or grilling. So, I appreciate what you and Tommy have done. We (I) need to keep going and try some different techniques, and uses (e.g. greens and eggs) for ham.

This should be fun!

Thanks again RAD and Tommy!

I think I should have pulled by hand and not use the claws. It would have made better chunks
