Heads Up on buying from Amazon

Heads up on buying from Amazon. They are some sellers on there that are jacking the price up and shipping from a cheaper place like Walmart. Be sure and research for the lowest price if it not shipped by Amazon.

An example was a Lodge Hibachi grill I bought from Amazon but was shipped by another seller. I forgot about checking out Walmart. Something made me think of checking out Walmart and there was one at a store close by for $86. I tried to cancel my Amazon order but I was too late; it was $115.

When I got the Hibachi it had been shipped from Walmart! The seller had simply ordered it from Walmart and had sent to me; making $29 profit.

There was a story on CNN about this and Amazon says they do not condone sellers buying from another source and reselling at a higher price on Amazon. It happened to me so be careful.

Don did you try calling/contacting Amazon? They always make things right with me...

My order had been shipped when I tried to cancel. I have not had any problems with Amazon until this happened and it was late by the time I figured out what happened. I'll just chalk it up to lesson learned! I just wanted to alert others what could happen. Don

Don, thanks for the heads up;  that is definitely good advice!

One of the nice things with Amazon Prime is that any time you see a "prime" price you can be sure that item is being shipped by Amazon directly.

In the case when I have bought from Amazon - and not a Prime vendor...I have always been able to return the item, for full credit. In this case that may not be worthwhile, because they will not refund shipping - and you will have to pay dearly to ship cast iron.

 I should have mentioned this happened two times and before I was a prime member

Ive cut my amazon buying way back.Im getting better deals on lots at ebay.

Yep, cut my impulse buying back since they upped the free shipping threshold again.   When it was $25 and $35, I would buy a lot of small impulse orders.  Now I have to wait until I think I really need several items to hit the free shipping threshold at $45.  I'm an old cheap bastard I guess.  If there is something less than that that I want but don't desperately need, I add it to my cart and leave it there.  After a while when I have 2 or 3 things in there and get over the free shipping threshold, I complete the order.  I've had 2 things in the cart for about a month now.  I would think Amazon has lost a lot of impulse buys with the higher threshold.

Back to the point of buying a Sold By Amazon product....  On the left side of the amazon screen there should be a bunch of filter options you can choose.  Scroll down to there is a way to show only items sold by Amazon, or select the prime eligible.  Either way would work.

I guess this never happened to me because I usually only order prime qualified items. I mostly buy from ebay or Amazon.
