Maple/Bourbon glazed Kamado Joe ham
« Reply #-1 on: June 17, 2016, 11:43:51 AM »
Cooked this beauty up a few weeks ago. Never really liked ham, until I did my 1st low n slow one a few years ago. Now I could easily eat 1 of these each month ;)  Makes for excellent sandwiches during the work/school week.

Looks Great!  Some details would be nice like how long, what temp, type of glaze used and even what type of ham so others could try it also.  Thanks  :)

was the ham already spiral cut? I did a spiral cut a while back (not noticing it was cut already when purchased) and it came out horribly dry. I had read that's common and to get ones that aren't cut already

Sorry for the lack of info. Here's the recipe I used. And for those that are wondering, I typically buy 1/2 spiral cut hams. Using this recipe, I haven't had one dry out yet. Cooking on a kamado helps I am sure... as kamados are known for their moist cooking environment. I tend to buy from Costco when they have them. Otherwise, I'll grab one from the grocery store. Maybe it's just me, but I tend shy away from the cheaper store brand hams. No, I am not a ham snob...I just like prettier packaging...LOL!

Oh yeah...I baste it quite often during the cook. That's probably another big reason it stays moist.
