Food Deflation
« Reply #-1 on: August 29, 2016, 02:16:56 PM »
I just read a good article on the drop in food prices.  They sighted a 12% drop in ground beef, 5% drop in chicken, 3% drop in pork.  All figures are from July 2015 to July 2016. I assume it is a Minnesota thing, as nothing ever comes cheap here.  But I have no seen anything like this. The comments section of the article are calling BS too from around the country.

I have noticed a drop in eggs and milk.  Those farmers are hurting. My nephew just lost his dairy farm.

Just curious what your experience has been?

Same here in Ohio..I just bought spare ribs for $1.77 a lb..nice and meaty, very little fat..can't wait to cook them. A gallon of milk is down to $1.58, hasn't been this low for ages..Beef is real high now, chicken wings are around $2 a #, legs and thighs are $.87 a #.  Go figure.   .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.

We are about the same as Pam here.... I got a few packs of  80/20 and 93/7 ground beef last night for $1.35 on clearance.  Otherwise beef is just ridiculous.
The Mexican beef is almost half the price so I buy better cuts of that for now.  I bought  two Mexican Filet's for $12 last night, Two of the same size Angus Filet's were $23. :o
Fresh Market runs a 2.99 Tuesday fresh ground meat special.  I try and get some of that every week too.
