Have never been there to nosh, unfortunately. And I think it's in the old theatre district, am I correct?
Might be the ground it sits on is more valuable than the business itself. Seems to be the reasoning for a lot of wonderful places closing these days.

Ok, was there with my wife pre 911, impossible to eat any of the sandwiches just too big. The pics on the walls were really cool but I thought it was over priced even for New York.  Have been back to NY several times since then and have not returned. It was a one and done.

But you get a pickle and a meat slicing show. It is part theatre.

LOL  I really could not get my mouth around the sandwich.....I did eat the entire sandwich but I had to pull out some of the meat first. I had the sandwich & then the rest of the meat...loaded with mustard

Yes it was part of the theatre and the experience, I'm glad we went but it wasn't worth going back far to many other experiences and food to have. On a Saturday we took the subway to battery park and then walked back to Time Square it's several miles but we passed thru several ethnic neighborhoods and we were able to sample and eat the different foods. I was full when we returned to our hotel.  That is the New York experience if you get a chance I would recommend it to anyone! :)
