Well, you don't say $$ is an issue so I'll suggest this one. It's on my "Want" list.

Blaze 20" Kamado Grill   http://www.blazegrills.com/product/blaze-kamado/

I really like that you can use the rotisserie attachment and it looks pretty cool.

Art your thread has piqued my interest. I'm nearing retirement and wanted a stickburner, especially when we get to our retirement landing spot. But after seeing the M1 maybe I just want versatility but in a woodburner. I found this manufacturer and they are from Illinois.
Give the Bratten grill 1000 series a look......many options.

You might also check out the Good One smoker Art! I believe Smokeasaurus did a great review on it. If I was looking at another charcoal or stick burner this would definitely be on my list.
Is the Good One a stick burner??

I have tried using small splits in the Good Ones and they are too small to keep the temps down. They are set it and forget it but your fuel of choice is lump/chunks.

The KBQ is awesome and glad to hear electricity is not a prob. That open fire box on top just makes me a bit gun-shy. i believe Regular Guy made up some type of a spark screen. The KBQ is strictly a smoker.

So you want to burn wood? You want the true flavor of BBQ that only God provides? Wouldn't it be nice to be able to grill as well??

The M1 is the way to go. This is one of the coolest well thought out designs I have ever seen. You can burn splits but not have something 6 feet long sitting around. It has a small footprint but you can use the entire cooking surface without scorching hot spots. You can grill and smoke. You can crank it up and smoke roast.

The M1 is my next grill. Just waiting on probate to end next year................

Good info and thanks much.  I am leaning towards the M1 or that type of cooker.
I do care to grill on it but it is a nice extra feature.  Th small footprint, reverse flow, wood burner is very impressive.

I've had The Good One a few months now and it does a bang up job. Does an amazing job of holding a temp where you want it.

If you like the taste of vaporized meat dripping the M1 looks great
If you dislike that the good one is a better choice as far as a small footprint.

Not trying to take away from what you just said, as it is true. However,  for those that don't care for vaporized meat drippings... the only thing I'll add is that the M1 makes it very easy to keep the drippings from hitting the hot reverse flow plate by placing an aluminum pan (with or without water) right under the meat. It sits on the adjustable charcoal grate, which is in between the cooking grate and the hot reverse flow plate where drippings would vaporize.

I would also recommend a Good One.  I have the Open Range and really like it.  It's pretty much set it and forget it.

I also like the PK grills but the original one is on the small side but supposedly they are coming out with a larger XL version some time soon.
