Tommy said this “ No way would I enjoy a pressure cooked butt” in response to a post comparing a butt cooked on a BGE vs an Instant Pot.
Well I’ve never cooked pulled pork in a pressure cooker BUT I’m going to attempt it for tonight !
Just started, 3.5 lbs pork shoulder.
Instant Pot
Wright’s hickory liquid smoke
Pork Barrel BBQ rub
Dreamland BBQ sauce ( vinegar based)
Corky’s BBQ sauce ( tomato based)
Serving tonight to my wife who will think it’s one of my vacuum sealed butts I’ve reheated & I’ll find out how she likes it.

Well, I finally got to a real keyboard where I can respond to this.

I have had both Crock Pot pork, pressure cooked pork the taste is just not there and the texture leaves a lot to be desired.  I grew up with real pit cooked BBQ from local joints here and my brother in-law even ran one for awhile so I know how it should be taste and texture wise and cooking it indoors just does nothing for me.  My mom would make pork in a Crock Pot and I would eat it but I didn't care for it but I was living at home and nothing else to eat so I made due.

After I moved out I would go the the BBQ (Gibson's BBQ & Whitts BBQ) and pay $1.50 for a pile of skins.  The skins were the left overs of the nights butts that have been pulled, you could get enough meat for 5 or 6 sammies + tones of great bark which I love bark like some folks love gravy  :D :D :D ;)

If given some pork cooked in a pot I wouldn't be rude and turn it down I just could enjoy it like smoked butts should be, this also includes INFARED cooked butts

Pulled pork should be like a fine steak nothing added to enjoy it just the meat and rub or mop from the cooker.

OBTW Cliff, A few years back I cooked butts in a Bradley and BEESR and had 20 + folks compare them.  The BEESR won the taste test  something like 14 to 6  folks liked the BEESR better because of the bark and textur
