I'm aching for a new grill smoker.
« Reply #-1 on: July 17, 2018, 10:14:27 PM »
Ya ever get that felling that you need something new or different.  If y'all know me, I love my charcoal.  I'm bored with my weber performer.  I have all the doo tads for it and I'm very, very good with any aspect with it.  Either smoking or grilling with it.  I've been looking really hard at the PK 360.  I love the direct/ indirect aspect of it.  Love the aluminum part of it.  It will last forever.  I replace my weber every 8-10 years.  I had a PK and sold it because I burnt the sh!t out of my fingers adjusting the lower vents.  Didn't like getting on my knees to adjust.  The PK 360 fixes that.  It's bigger than the original.  Good.  But Damn, $800.  For $800 I could get a 22 WSM again and a brand new orange performer (not that there is anything wrong with my green one).  Well brothers and sisters.  What do y'all think?

Ok - if you have the $800, are you going to be happier with the PK or the 2 webers? Answer that question and you have your answer.

Sparky,
Is this one going to be "hidden" in your storage shed?  I remember a discussion with our wives about our grills when we met in Reno.  Whatever you pick, I know it will be well researched.

we got a new storage locker.   To put all the kids stuff in.  I might put it over there.  I don't know if they will let my bbq over there.  It's where I store the trailer too.  So I got a bathroom.  I don't have that many grills art.  ;)

I believe your wife would not agree.  I have already thinned my grills by two.  I am probably set for now.

When we move into our new house, the Weber performer is being gifted and a new PK360 is being bought. They gave me EVERYTHING I wanted over the original. It'll be here when I'm gone.

So, I totally understand your desire..... believe me.

I think this is best answer.  But, where are you getting an Orange Performer?

Sparky you are always cooking on something new to you.  Which is part of the fun. I seem to collect them in twos. MAK, Hasty Bake Gourmets and two drum smokers which includes the Sparky special.  I always thought I would like to try the new PK , ceramic or Weber Summit charcoal. .i say you need to give it a go.

I say go for it.  I have the PK 360 as well as the PK classic and I like the 360 way more than the classic.  I also have two Weber Performers and have not used them in a long time.

I like the 360 more because:

Bigger cooking area.
Stainless steel cooking and fire grate.
Better lower vent system.
Grill sits up taller.
Comes with a thermometer.
The two large shelves with a wire to hang stuff on.
Lid opens front to back instead of side to side.
Larger handle on the lid.

I also bought the TX cart for my PK classic and it's pretty neat and lets the grill sit up a little taller than the regular cart.

Mine is silver because I pre-ordered it when they first came out and the graphite wasn't out yet.  I think I like the graphite better though.
