The Lockhart has landed!
« Reply #-1 on: February 09, 2020, 03:14:38 PM »
After the delay in trying to obtain my newest waste of money, I have finally gotten it home and assembled. Here's a few pics to document the arrival and some preliminary pics of what it looks like.

Once I got it assembled, I did a 45 minute burnoff at 350, while that was going on I downloaded the app and updated the firmware to it. The app needs work but it lets you turn it on and control all of the functions remotely but honestly it will not get used much I don't think as it's just bluetooth and not wi-fi. I have yet to test the range so it might be ok.

I know it sounds silly but one of the things I like so far is the light in the smoke cabinet that I can turn on.Pit Boss copied Camp Chef's design for ash removal, I like that feature. I also like the sight glass on the side of the hopper as well as the easy empty feature if I want to remove pellets. It's a MASSIVE cooker, holds 40 pounds of pellets.

I'll make an official review once I cook on it. I got it all assembled and Stephanie tells me that she's cooking a whole chicken in the Cosori air fryer, lol. I'll do some ribs on it this week sometime, maybe with some other offerings. Stephanie wants to buy some bulk cheese to cold smoke in the cabinet, that's another feature I'm looking forward to trying!

I didn't need it either to be brutally honest but more than half of what I own, if not more, I don't "need" :P

It caught my eye and I like trying new things. Once I give it a whirl I'll report back!

So it's a grill down below and a smoker up above?  Verrry Interesting
Sometimes you have to go in a circle to reach your destination.

Correct. You can smoke down below as well if you want, you just shut off the top cabinet from getting smoke. You can also adjust the smoke by regulating the flow via two "pulls" as well as top dampers. It also lets you slide a cover that's part of the heat deflector/grease tray to open up for direct flame searing, 1000 degrees! My other pit boss does that as well but it's a reach inside deal, this one has a lever so it's easy to do and can be done while cooking.
