Charcoal & cancer?

https://www.healthline.com/health/is-grilling-with-charcoal-or-other-heat-sources-carcinogenic#1

I love a cooked steak with grill marks but there are ways to cut down on the harm that may be coming from hot temps.

I do eat more grilled vegetables,  chicken, turkey etc.   This allows me to have a great hot steak as a treat from time to time.

Gasp! Who knew we were in such imminent danger?

Next thing you know they'll be telling me that smoking, drinking, living in a sunny climate, swimming in the ocean, driving a car, flying in airplanes, and having friends like tee are all bad for me. Then someone will try to make it illegal to eat anything except tofu or ground turkey or some other such "nonfood" and it'll be curtains for the free world.

Jus' sayin'...

How about SPAM ?

When I was a kid 60+ years ago, we had SPAM and Boxed Mac & Cheese once a week to stay on BUDGET.

How about SPAM ?

SPAM is a local favorite and considered a staple here (even served at MacDonald's for breakfast) . I don't eat it that often but it's still an occasional treat, especially when fried or grilled and made into musubi or fried with eggs. Not to mention that smoked SPAM is insane in its own right.

Have you checked with the current powers that be?

Only they can decide for you what is "safe", or in your best interest.

Made me think of Joey Chestnut and the other competitors who are eating dozens of hotdogs at a time.

I've never heard of Competitive grillers or even restaurant pit masters with cancer.

I am NOT discrediting this story, but it just doesn't SEEM to be a prevalent problem.
And I'm sure if it were a real and present danger Dr Fauci would make us all wear masks while grilling and the CDC would consider recalling all grills and charcoal products.

Don't laugh that may be next.      CB Martin died of cancer, Kevin Kehoe, Jeremy “Big Worm” Murphy, Mack Sevier, & Angel "Sonny" Orsini all died from cancer so it means anyone can even pit masters.

I am not saying this to be true as I am just reporting what is out there.

Do you have a link to Barry's obituary or details of where and when?

Not long I spent quite a lot of time looking for contact information.
