No-Knead Light Wheat Bread Loaf
« Reply #-1 on: February 19, 2013, 11:06:09 PM »

Making the Crusty Bread that SiFumar posted got me jazzed and I found many recipes on the Internet for No-Knead bread.  Here's the link http://noknead.com/recipes/loaf-breads/light-wheat-no-knead-bread-loaf-recipe.php  to this easy recipe.  It really was so easy and it tastes wonderful :D  Holds it's shape and slices nicely.  I'm thinking that we might not need to buy bread anymore!

I love bread and am going to try some of the other recipes.  I know it's not hard but kneading, etc has always kept me from making breads but I think I'm going to like this No-Knead method.

Hey Pete thanks for the link!  That bread looks good!  I got mine off a blog a couple years ago and have tried to find it again.  Yours gives a lot of nice ideas to try.  We don't buy store bought bread much because I do bake often. (except when it's 115* out lol)  Thanks for researching and sharing.

Thanks for the inspiration SiFumar.  This light wheat bread really holds up, slices nicely, tastes wonderful, toasts real good.  I added the optional honey  :)  Going to try some of the other recipes for variety.  No more store bought bread for us at $3 to $5 a loaf!  ???

Got me a batch of Raisin Crusty Bread prepping right now.  Going to use a Camp Chef Dutch Oven Dome which should allow me to bake this bread outdoors and while RVing.

By diverting, trapping, and circulating heat, the Dutch Oven Dome creates a convection oven for your cast iron outdoors. The combination of the included heat diffuser plate and the Dutch Oven Dome provides the most effective heat distribution method for cooking with a dutch oven. By cooking on a gas stove you can also reduce or eliminate the cost and mess of charcoal. The Dutch Oven Dome can be used when cooking with charcoal or on a gas grill.

Stay tuned for an update ...

That looks so good. I have been eyeballing one of those CampChef dutch oven domes to use out on my CampChef stove. I also have a Lodge cast iron loaf pan I bought the wife but she hasn't used yet.

I was going to test my new Camp Chef Dutch Oven Dome today for my Raisin Crusty Bread but it's too windy and I want to give the dome decent conditions for the first test ... so I made the Crusty Bread in the Dutch Oven in the oven.  The test will have to wait for better ambient conditions  :)

Raisin Crusty Bread  8) ... It's good!!  A little more research has shown that I can use this recipe to make a bread loaf as long as I do a second rise of 1½ to 2 hours in a bread pan.  So many loaves to bake ... So little time  :D

That raisin bread looks awesome!  One of our favorites.  Try dried cherries/cranberries makes great turkey sandwiches.

You had me with the light wheat bread, but that raisin bread looks incredible!

I have got to try this.

So was the cinnamon bread adapted from the recipe link you posted?

I tried the straight white bread.  It was kinda dense.  I can't replace store sandwich bread with that.  Did I do something wrong?  It looked about the right size, but did it not rise enough?  Or did I maybe not cook it long enough?  Thermapen read 195o when I took it out of oven.

Thanks Pam.  I thought it had too much moisture when I cut in to it.
