Sometimes...you get lucky...
« Reply #-1 on: March 25, 2013, 12:30:40 AM »
I had been kinda looking to find a big meat slicer. But they are expensive is you look at the Globe, Hobart, or other commercial line stuff. You know, cast aluminum and/or stainless...Close to 100 lbs. And - the cost of a kidney...
So - ( and will will shock some of you...I am genetically predisposed to being...a "tight-wad"-) I just have this thing that is a game with myself. If I am going to spend money - I have to prove that I have gotten the best deal possible.

Craiglist has been a quality resource for me before. And - recently as well.

She was rough looking, and the gage plate was stuck - so you could not adjust the thickness of the slice....But I talked the guy down to $100. And - I knew that I could sell a couple of parts of her and get my money back...

I stripped it down to the frame. polished , cleaned - re-packed gears and bearings,  - everything. Spent $35 on parts .

Not bad for $135 bucks! These go for $500-$1000 everyday....

And the mail-order slicing service you are planning for members of LTBBQ could be a positive cash flow as well...right?   8)

Nice score.  My wife won't even let me look at the slicers when we walk by them in a store.  :(
