The ABT Sammich
« Reply #-1 on: September 23, 2013, 11:06:43 AM »
We made up a batch of ABT's and hamburger sliders for the early football games yesterday. They were tasty! But my beloved Bears had the night game. By half-time all guests had left as Monday morning rolls around early. But not for me, I'm off today.  8)
Anyway, somehow 2 ABT's were not consumed.....how does that happen? Well I thought, as the munchies roared, what to make?
We had made a fresh loaf of French bread in the bread-maker earlier in the day.       Ahhhh, an ABT sammich!
Sliced off a hunk of bread, broiled it along with the two ABT's. Added cheese, melted, got color, time to eat.....again! But what do you put on an ABT sammich?  NOTHING, it was Gooood! Bears won 40-23 over the Steelers.  Great end to a fine Fall day.....

What a great idea! That looks fantastic. A good reason to "hide" a couple of ABTs at the beginning of the game...  ;)

Not to sound stupid.... I guess stupid is as stupid does.....I have never gotten a recipe for ABT's. Looking at these pictures has made me wanna try making some.Would ya'll mind sharing some? My family would probably love them and I would sure appreciate it! If I can turn a couple as good as these...I might even be in the money!

Thanks,
Dan

That's a great idea, and perfect for ABTs.  I've definitely this on my list of things to try - maybe I'll top it with a runny egg yolk for a little more richness (as if I need that  ;D)

Dan, there's a zillion ways to make ABT's. I usually use 1 pk cream cheese, sometimes cheddar, and mix in left over pulled pork, or diced rib tips, bacon diced works, spice, mix well. Clean the seeds from a pile of jalapenos, stuff the peppers with the cheese -meat concoction. Wrap each with a piece of bacon, grill until bacon is crisp and pepper soft.  hope this helps....
