Nice score LA, I would also run to Academy and get the original hinged grate. It is nice to have to add coals for long running indirect cooks.

Woo-hoo!!!  I'm getting a Weber Kettle...for $10 on BooKoo (local online classifieds)

It isn't the "cadillac", but it WILL give me some experience with a kettle to find out if I can cook on one.  It is a 22 1/2 inch model.  Probably add a folding rack and be in good shape.

I'll send updated pics when I get it cleaned up...note the wooden handles.

Enamel is intact except for small places around the legs.  Inside cleaned up pretty fair with wire brush...will add elbow grease this weekend.
Needs new grates - will probably use those that fold so I can add fuel and chips as needed - 22 1/2 inches.  Needs a new handle on front IF I'm going to move it around much, but my plans are to use it on the gravel pad next to the offset.  I have the Weber half-moon charcoal pans...they will come in handy.
I'll see what I can cook this weekend...Don (IR2Dum) will be here Friday...maybe he can give me some pointers although you guys are very helpful.  He really likes the Orange Soda Hot Wings, so we'll probably try them. this grill should be ideal for those because they need to be cooked over indirect for about 45 minutes, then finished over direct heat. (again, folding grates will help with that process).
Anyway, now I am in the Weber Nation.  I know I can count on y'all for help.

LA inspired me with his find...I looked in the classifieds to see if anyone had a kettle to "give away" and found it.
I would not spend $100 for ANOTHER grill. I have 7 different ones. But with all the chatter lately about the "mother of all charcoal grills", I thought $10 was a fair price to pay to get into the game as a beginner.
We'll see...

Nice finds L.A. & Jaxon both!

Jaxon, you can go to your local Ace Hardware and find parts for that puppy.

Thanks, Cliff...I'm tryin' to wait for LA to let me know what to buy.  He is my long-term mentor on things grillin' and such.  He seems to know way yonder more than I do about grills and fire buildin' - so I try to listen to what he says about it.

You ever heard such malarkey in all your life? ;)
