cookbooks any recommendations.....
« Reply #-1 on: October 10, 2013, 04:52:11 PM »
Hi all,

I was looking on Amazon for books on smoking, I like to have a variety of literature. I am new to smoking but not to bbq'ing. Any recommended books? Anyone have or can comment on any of these:

The Complete Wood Pellet Barbeque Cookbook, by Bob Devon

Smoke & Spice: Cooking with Smoke, the Real Way to Barbecue, by Cheryl Alters Jamison

Backyard BBQ: The Art of Smokology, by Richard W. McPeake

Smoking Meat: The Essential Guide to Real Barbecue, by Jeff Philips

or

Serious Barbecue: Smoke, Char, Baste & Brush Your Way to Great Outdoor Cooking, by Adam Perry Lang

Thanks.

Alan

One of the Gurus on our forum, "BBQCHEF", has a great book I got from Amazon.com.  It will be a source of instruction AND recipes and other USEFUL information.

Look for it at:  Mastering Barbecue: Tons of Recipes, Hot Tips, Neat Techniques, and Indispensable Know How

I'm sure you'll like as much as I do.

There may be other on the forum I don't know about.  If so, my moderator will help me remember.

If you have a shred of Charcoal and wood on your patio, you must have "Peace,Love and BBQ by the legendary Mike Mills in your library...........

Apple City BBQ was a force to be dealt with when they were competing.

"Big Bob Gibson's BBQ Book" is a classic that people really seem to like, not just for the recipes, but for the stories as well.

This isn't BBQ related, but if you like Italian, any of Lidia Bastianich's books are superb!

Many Italian dishes can be adapted for the grill.

I just ordered this book: Authentic Mexican 20th Anniversary Ed: Regional Cooking from the Heart of Mexico - Rick Bayless

Mexican food is easy to adapt to a grill/smoker.

"CB" 'Martin's two books, "America Grills" and "Everybody Grills"  are also excellent.  I take many cookbooke recipes I like and just convert them to smoking.  One thing I really like to do is smoke something for awhile and then finishing of on or in my SRG or on my IR grill.  De

I started with "Smoke & Spice".  It's geared towards the WSM crowd, but it has some good info in it.   Peace, Love, BBQ is also very good.
