It's a small world
« Reply #-1 on: October 14, 2013, 12:46:30 AM »
I had a great Saturday. Northshore came down to the Twin Cities and we got together for brunch. We went to one of my favorite places - Psycho Suzi'z Motor Lounge (it's a Tiki Bar  ;) ) To see a pretty unique menu - click this: http://www.psychosuzis.com/index.html It's the only place I've found tater tots offered as an appetizer and potluck pickle-roll ups. They also have a kick-a@@ Bloody Mary bar. We both went for the Mercury Breakfast Pizza - Canadian bacon, caramelized onion, egg, chives, cheddar & mozzarella cheese, and a drizzle of hollandaise. Served on a golden crust.

As much fun as PS is and the food is good, the conversation was even better. We hit it off right away and shared travel stories, cooking experiences, recipes, and general talk about anything. Paul has a great deal of experience with sausage, bacon, and other cured meats, along with smoking almost anything. I plan to go up for one of his classes next spring.

I asked why he was down here, and he explained that he was sort of an "adopted" grandfather for a local family. They invited him to be part of their son's confirmation. I mentioned that it was coincidence - my oldest daughter was being confirmed this Sunday. What church was he going to? He didn't know, the family was picking him up at his motel. I laughed and said wouldn't it be funny... But, this is a major confirmation weekend around here, so the odds were minimal.

As my wife, younger daughter and I were having coffee in fellowship hall, waiting for the service to begin... here comes Paul.  ;D It IS a small world. I really enjoyed the couple hours we spent together and look forward to maintaining a friendship. Pappy, I hope you can make it next time. We're starting to talk about a Minnesota area gathering at some point.

David,  What a great day and great story!   Didn't I read somewhere that tater tots wrapped in bacon are good?  Of course, anything wrapped in bacon is good.  Dee

It is always nice to have one very favorite place to go to and have a nice meal consistently and enjoy the day. You certainly found yours.

Here in New Braunfels, there is a little cafe that we go to once a month called the Adobe Cafe. Nice food, good service and a variety of Southwestern tastes.

Enjoy!

Yes it was fun, had a great time talking about BBQ and smoking (meat). The place David selected for brunch was great. Very well supplied Bloody Mary bar
and the breakfast pizza was very good.
Sorry you couldn't make it pappy but I hope to be back in cities this winter sometime.  Maybe we can meet then.  Thanks David for a great visit David at Bloody Mary Bar
