It's La Cotta Time Again
« Reply #-1 on: November 11, 2013, 08:41:42 PM »
Today's intent was to grill our Fine Swine & Bovine rubbed pork chops over charcoal. Well, the fair morning turned to a windy and cold afternoon, and then the SNOW came! Now I'm willin' to take one for the team but not outside tonight! So how to cook these chops that have been dancing with FS&B since yesterday? Hey let's get the La Cotta out! So it was....Pork Chops a La Cotta, rice, mixed veggies, and a salad. The chops were so tender, they could have been cut with a spoon. Eaten while watching the snow fall.........

That looks absolutely delicious hikerman! I need to do some research on the La Cotta since I had
never seen one or heard of one before seeing this cook.

That is a great looking pork chop!

However, the first thing that came to my mind was: how hard is that thing to clean?

I have one of those at the camground, what did you use? An oven, I do mine over the open fire, mostly pizza stuffs but a few dessert apple pies too.  When they cooler, I just use hot water and let dry. Pam

I cook on stovetop using med. heat Pam. It imparts a "cooked outside" flavor which is good, I guess because it's made from volcanic rock. But I must have my exhaust hood on high to not set our smoke alarms off! But nonetheless I think it's a hoot to use and meat is so juicy and tender.

Ed, like Pam said, you let it cool and use hot water and I use a pot scrubber. It's very easy and like cast iron gets more non-stick with use.

However, the first thing that came to my mind was: how hard is that thing to clean?

Good looking pork chop! I haven't heard of a La Cotta either, but it certainly looks interesting.
