My new go to beer Hoppin Helles
« Reply #-1 on: December 23, 2013, 12:51:00 PM »
When I want a beer with some more flavor than my everyday Keyestone I have been buying Leinenkugels Hoppin Helles. It is a Munich light lager style. Sometimes IPA is a little too hoppy for me that Hikerman likes. Not sure if Leiney's Helles is like a true German beer but to me it has a pleasant mild hop taste. Getting ready to enjoy one below. With it is my good bourbon Christmas present to myself! Smokin Don

Traeger 07E pellet smoker
Weber E210 gas grill
Weber Jumbo Joe Charcoal
Camp Chef Pro 30 gas burner
Camp Chef Iron Griddle
Lodge CI Hibachi
Instant Pot Pressure Cooker
I am not aging, just marinating
I think I am starting to age!

Don, I enjoy most of the offerings from Leinenkugle, but I haven't tried Hoppin Helles yet. I will look for it next time I'm buying beer. I have not tried Elijah Craig either. Usually I buy Jim Beam, but when I splurge it's Makers Mark.
Don it would be very enjoyable to me if one day we could share a few beers and tell a few stories as well.
Until then my friend, Merry Christmas to you and your family!   :)

It would be great to share a few or a lot of beer with you and eat some good food Gene! I thought maybe the Hoppin Helles was just a seasonal beer but checked the web site and looks like a new one and I'll be able to enjoy it often. Here is how they describe it. "Traditional Helles-style beers tend to be a tad malty. Leinenkugel’s® Hoppin' Helles™ is our spin on the style that puts it a bit on the hoppy side with five all-American hops. It starts bright and citrusy with a nice tropical aroma that ends with a tangy spice finish. New this fall " I just know I like it! I think my favorite IPA is Bass from England. My one neighbor and I used to tip a few of them. Merry Christmas!!! Don

Hey Don, Cheers to you buddy!
A younger fella on my crew at work has young kids so we let him take Christmas week off. Well when it snows on this week I'm the snow-removal guy at work . So work today started for me at 5 am and I got home at 4:30pm. Not all day outside but in single digit temps, it was a long day! I needed a warmer upper and a Manhattan sounded good.  8)

I don't recall seeing that particular Leinenkugels, but I'll look for it. Lager is what what I prefer when I have a beer or two.

I have not seen that beer locally, but the Elijah Craig is great stuff. As is Bookers, Basil Hayden, Knob creek, Blantons....

I'll be in Louisville in Jan for business, I like to sample all the small batches when I'm there.
