Jaxon..oil it a few times..let the oil soak in..I have used coconut oil, good stuff, it's creamy, and soon you will be releasing like a pro. I wouldn't let it pool but coat it good..it will soak up. your doing just fine.  Pam  .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.

Pam, I  rubbed some oil in it and it soaked right in. Didn't want to overdo it.

How much oil does it take...and should we put it in the oven after oiling like cast iron?

I used PAM cooking spray on mine and it worked just fine. The first application I threw into the oven at 450 for a while, can't remember how long. Till it turn brown in color I believe. Than before making bread I gave it another spray down (top & bottom) for the next three loafs I made. The last clean up was a snap, nothing stuck to it at all.
