I will absolutely be trying that!!  Power tools in the kitchen aren't entirely uncommon at our place...

My first Thanksgiving while I was dating James was a real eye opener though-- I was making mashed potatoes, and, being new to his kitchen, asked if he had a hand mixer I could use.   He said YES I DO!!  He pulled a single beater out of the drawer, then left for the garage.  I rifled through the drawers to find the other beater for a few minutes, until he came back in the kitchen with a power drill.  He took out the drill bit, stuck the beater in the end of the drill, cranked it tight, and went to work on the mashed potatoes.   I couldn't breathe I was laughing so hard.   Apparently some years back, he'd lost one of the beaters, and rather than find a replacement beater, he threw out the hand mixer and went to the power drill method.   Such a redneck McGyver!

His teenage son was honestly astonished the first time I brought out my "proper" two beater hand mixer.   "They're supposed to have TWO???"
