Dogs and thunder
« Reply #-1 on: May 20, 2014, 12:18:22 AM »
Dr. Holly's post about his pal Roscoe being afraid of storms reminded me of my Dalmatian I had for 14 yrs. She was scared of storms and thunder. One time when she was pretty young they blew the tornado siren. It got bad enough I made the wife get in the tub and tried to get the dog in too but she was having none of that.

A few years later I got up in the middle of the night and went to the pot. While setting there the shower curtain right beside the pot rustled and moved, I dam near fell off the pot! Half scarred I pulled the curtain aside and there stood my dog in the tub shivering!  :o I didn't think anything about that it was storming. Needless to say I was done with my job!  ::) Don

Don't we ever.  We had a Golden Retriever that was scared to death of everything from thunderstorms, to fireworks, and even the vacuum cleaner.  He would run upstairs and hide out in our closet every time.   Now we have an Irish Setter that isn't afraid of anything, he loves the vacuum cleaner.  Whenever I vacuum he is right there jumping on the vacuum cleaner then he rolls over and enjoys it while I vacuum him, he loves it.

This one is our first Setter and now we see what other owners say about them.  They are characters for sure, they never really grow-up, even after they are out of their puppy stage.   :-\
