Pit barrel cooker fun day Sunday
« Reply #-1 on: January 27, 2019, 08:39:39 PM »
Well my wife call yesterday from two states away to give me a list of chores for me to do.  Geez... Ok, I got up early today and took care of everything on my chore list.

So, fun day with the pit barrel cooker.

Got my crew with me.

Filled up 1/2 my basket and lite some coals for on top.

It's fun day so.... Let's have some fun.  Bbq is not suppose to be work.  Let's make some goodies.

Mix it all up.

Beans, aidells sausage and spam (for the dogs).

One rack cut in 1/2 with voodoo rub on one and secret weapon on the other one.

everyone in the pool.

Time for snacky poo.

Caveman style.  Spoon and fingers only.

Yummy.

Looks good.

Time for sauce.

Oh ya.

Time to dig in.

Fantastic fun day with the pit barrel cooker.

Food looks fantastic Gus! Am I confused though, or was there a time when you bought/sold a PBC because you didn’t care for the flavor profile it imparts on meat? Either way, nicely done :)

Gus,
Are you sure the Spam was for the dogs?  Looked like a bite was missing and then they showed up with a bowl of beans and a sausage, and then, poof, they were gone.

I owned one of the first PBC that Noah and Amber made.  Loaned to a friend and he never gave it back.  So I sold it to him and bought a new one.  Don't like the flavor profile off of the 55 gallon drums I had before.  I owned a big poppa smokers stainless drum and a Hunsaker.  The flavor off of the PBC is different.

Gotcha! For some reason I thought I remember you saying the food from the PBC was “icky”... lol. Not much of a memory left in this ole’ noggin ;-)

You need to start screening your calls. ;)
But you still had time to cook up some great chow. (although you did give one of the best cuts to the dogs)

First off great cook Spark.

Yes the PBC cooks directly over the live fire which creates a grease fog unlike any other upright drum cooker.

Question: do you still have the Hunsaker??

Question: do you still have the Hunsaker??

Wife didn't like the flavor of food off the Hunsaker.  So it's gone.  I sold my 22 WSM  when I got the Hunsaker.  Huge mistake because some of the best bbq I ever made in my life came off of my 22 WSM.  Looking for a 22 WSM used but I love smoking on my 26 kettle.  Not the same flavor profile but close.
