Tim found this and sent it to me... So if he already posted it I missed it...
http://www.nola.com/food/index.ssf/2014/11/harahan_couple_have_a_new_way.html#incart_riverMany of you know I've been yappin about boiled turkey since we were on the CB site.
I have talked about boiled turkey but never managed to make it on any of the get together's "even though we were about to starve " ...
Anyway as Tim put it this vindicates me... Try it you'll be pleasantly surprised. And if you don't like Cajun style I think you could season it several different ways with great results.
I was not happy with the oysters I brought to the gathering this year. I should have made better arrangements for them and will next year.
But for those who can get oysters in the shell. I think clams would work great too... Give the turkey recipe a try. Then bring the water back to a boil. Place oysters in the water using the pot strainer or onion sacks to hold them. Turn off the fire and let them sit until they open. remove and their done. Repeat if you have more oysters...
Clean well rinsed prime oysters are best and worth the money.
