Title: May try DIY setup
Post by: djm3801 on February 27, 2015, 08:09:16 PM
Have a really big crock pot. Never use it. Ever. Saw a temperature controller on Ebay cheap so sent for it. Shipped from mainland China as it turns out. So... I can get an aquarium circulator I guess. How crazy is this? I guess I need a vacuum bag machine or can I use zip locks until I determine that I want to cook this way? I mean to just try it out once or twice without poisoning myself or someone else? LOL. I am sure there are other home made setups as I have done searches..

Interesting....

How much was the cost? The Dorkfood DSV is only $99 and a great bargain.

Let us know how it works.

For the price it might be worth a try, can't wait to hear how it worked out. ;)

Posted in a new thread my results. Forgot i posted a photo of the controller here too. Learned you need a manual crock pot with a thermostat controller and the one i had was auto, but scored a manual one for $15.  More info in my new thread. Total investment is $42. If you have a manual one, this little controller is decent.
