Made a meatloaf tonight - mix of ground beef and sausage. Sauteed some veggies, and soaked some bread in buttermilk. Mixed it all up and made the loaf. Rubbed with T's Super Pig. Spayed some garlic oil on parchment paper and put on a Bradley rack, then into the smoker. Smoker was set at 240* and added some Sugar Maple and water in the drip pan. Added some ketchup in the last 30 minutes - taking it to 160*
Made some hasselback taters and rubbed them with ghee, salt and pepper.
I've never smoked a meatloaf before. I have to confess, I really didn't like it too much - too smokey... Next time I will try it on the PBC or the Weber.

Looks good from here! What got the outside so dark?

I'd love a plate like yours David!
Too bad you weren't fond of the flavor. I love smoked meatloaf!
I don't know anything about electric smokers, but maybe cooking at a higher temp might get you less smoky flavor.

Pappy, I think it was overdone - the "recipe" called for 3 hours - it was done at 2 - maybe too done...
Gene, I love meatloaf - just never tried smoking one before. Will try again at a higher temp and hopefully less smoke - thanks!

Thanks, Ahron. I used the digital electric Char Broil. I'll try the higher heat next time and fewer chips. Happy New Year to you and your family.
Thanks, everyone else - hope everyone here has a great New Year!

Looks delicious! :)

The wife and I love meatloaf done on my Traeger. I do it on 200 deg for a half hour then go to 250 - 300 deg. to finish; usually another hour or so. It doesn't take on much smoke just a hint. I can't remember the last time I did one in the oven. Yours did look good David! Don

Thanks SD - sounds like a good plan - will try this next time with less smoke! Happy New Year!

David I can understand the too much smoke on the meatloaf. We want it to be smokey, but we also want it to taste like Mom's! That in itself will bring disappointment.
I do mine like Smokin Don on my pellet grill, 250F for 30-45 minutes then 325-350F to finish.

Thanks SD & Gene, yeah I definitely went too heavy on the smoke and too long on the time. I don't have a pellet grill (yet ;) ) but will try this on my Char Broil electric smoker - not sure how fast it will change temps tho"

Heck looks good to me that ;)
