Title: A Little Cook, Home Alone
Post by: LostArrow on December 16, 2012, 08:15:57 AM
A pepper & beer Cornish game hen.
Veggies on first, 1/2 orange pepper, 1 small purple onion & some diced mushrooms; drizzled with olive oil & Lowry's .
On my table top grill in smoke mode.
While this was cooking a Cornish hen defrosted & in the brine for a couple hours.
When veggies looked about 2/3 done , a beer ( used a lighter lager) & then the hen sitting in the bath.
When the bird reached  bout 165F off & YUM.

What a great way to do a hen!!! That was a great looking cook LA!!  Did you just use coals for heat or did you add a little wood??

I used 1 pecan chunk when the bird was on.
The bird was way more tender than a fryer & the veggies were flavored with the smoked chicken drippings.

LA, how was the hen spiced? Looks like you have a rub on it, was it Lowry's?

Really nice meal there. Love the veggie and beer combo with the hen.

It's like pepper stout beef, but with poultry. I like it! I will definitely be keeping this in mind.
