Title: Pizza try take 2
Post by: Scallywag on July 03, 2013, 08:25:24 PM
Got my self a pizza stone.. Lowered my temp to 450 and bought some par-cooked pizza shells. Big improvement and no burnt bottoms but I'm trying this again with fresh dough instead.

have you tried taking the defuser off and just use the pizza stone?  I don't know.  I think the pizza you made there looks pretty good to me.   :)

Looking a lot better, would like to see a photo of the underside.

I agree with Sparky about just using the stone. Also how long are you cooking for?

I think with out the diffuser it would get to hot. Next time I will take pics of the underside.. But it was perfectly cooked this time. I just don't like pre made store cooked dough.. Reminds me of those frozen pizzas you can buy.

The are some brands that are better than the frozen pasty cardboard that I know you are thinking of Scally...But - you are right nothing beats home made!
We have a killer pizza joint in town that will sell me their dough - pre portioned - for $1 a ball. Cheap enough for a quality crust.

I love grilled, coal fired, wood fired pizzas. I have NO experience cooking on an "egg". But your crust is definitely looking better! Keep working, you'll get it!

It looks better Scally!

I think removing the diffuser would make it cook better. The stones work better when they are hotter IMHO.
