, Mainly because it irritated someone once :o that I would use sticks from the yard...but , when you have good hardwood sticks falling around the place why not use them!?
In fact they add a great smoky flavor to the food and work well in my Hibachi.

Absolutely Terry!
Nothing like a real "crafted" 'Q job from an old offset! And - if you got hardwoods shedding limbs this time oyear - why have to buy or cut down a tree?

Terry, I cook on a stick burner @ LostArrow, we cut 6 in split mini logs while cutting wood for the fireplace. I'll be honest at home I use a verticle smoker ,have both a double-chef & a WSM. During perfect weather with a chest of ice cold Corona's , & Fleetwood Mac. On pandora I'll fire up my home offset ;D

TLG...that wouldn't have been anyone in Georgia would it? Using what ya got is great, unless you can't get yoru hands on it. Lucky ppl Pammie ; *))

Terry, pecan sticks are falling in my yard compliments of the overly dry year. I'll be using them as fast as I can.
-
Ain't nuthin wrong with using sticks from the yard if they ain't got no resin. 'Course my Mother didn't care if switches had resin or not. :'( Dee
-
Dee, it's been so dry in Texas this year that we don't have any "green" wood left. It is drying on the tree just before it falls.
-
actually i prefer wood to any of the other fuels and i have used them all..........its harder to use , more work involved but the taste is worth it. 8)

That's one of the reasons I like it here and at SOTG is there are no prima donnas about what way or technique is the best or what way of cooking should be avoided. We can all learn from each other no matter what method of cooking is used. For instance, even though Old Dave was cooking a spatchcocked chicken on a different type of smoker than I have, I learned so much that I could transfer to my cooking. There ain't no "best" way or tecnique for cooking. I even learned something from IR2Dum...'course I never learned anything from an Auburn graduate. Dee

AMEN DEE!!!!

Dee, I think what you and most others have learned from me is don't take my advice. But, Dee, on the bright side, I never went to Auburn.
-
Auburn....? Is that the name of the Alabama state penal institution Dee? ;)
T

I must say Auburn has a great dental school.....the dental students get plenty of practice working on those Auburn cheerleaders trying to graze on that astroturf. ;D Dee

I thought their chipped teeth came from something else...PM TIME!!!! ;D

What is the Kelly blue book value of that smoker Hal? Is it close to the cost of a Porsche :o
-
It's a Peoria Custom Cookers "Meat Monster".

It's pretty much decked out with options, including the competition firebox.
And yes (rib me all you want, because it's true)...
I traded a Porsche for it.

Good Trade!!

Mine is the only one that counts Hal ;D
You can never go wrong with a new pit!! 8)
-
You will get a lot more miles out of the pit than the Porsche, at a much lower operational cost ;) ;D
