Post by: Tenpoint5 on April 03, 2012, 11:22:06 PM
A new Charcoal Eater for me!!

As some of the guys know I have been in discussions with a friend of the family about a cooker that I seen parked back in the weeds (Like for the past 7-8 years worth) Comes to find out they is thinking on selling it for SCRAP!! Now just hold on I says. I can bring that ole girl back to life and get some good use out of it. After some discussions I was told alright come get the dang thing. I brought her home today. She's kind of an UGLY DUCKLING right now but give me some time!! ;D

The inaugural party for that puppy could even be worth the trip to that I-state* you live in (if I can find it and SWMBO is in a good - or really bad - mood)!

* An I-state is defined in Hawaii as one of those places that we have no idea where they are but seem to all be (to us, anyway) in the Midwest.  They include every place from Ohio through Indiana, Illinois, and Iowa, all the way to Idaho.

Lucky Dog!
Get new tires & repack the bearings before towing it anywhere. ( unfortunately I speak from experience!)

I see lots of potential there (and, of course, a lot of work too).  Fixed up, that's gonna' be a nice cooker.

Can you have that done in time for the gathering? I'm thinking a whole hog or buffalo or wolly mammouth. The guys will figure out how to cook it.   Pam .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.

After looking more at the charcoal pull-outs..this pit is a stick burner all the way......you would go broke feeding it briquettes or lump!!

Great find.  See if you have an industrial metal fabricating company that has large vats to dip the trays etc into for the clean.  Save tons of work.  Phil

Hey TenPoint  Got any updated pics?  Thats a heck of a find!

It has been tormenting me since I pulled her in the back yard. I SOOOOOOOOO want to go out and play with her. However, I am still under doctors care for my shoulder which still isn't healed up correctly. The doctor says there is still a tear in the muscle but it doesn't go all the way through the muscle. He is waiting until my next visit in July to decide if we will do surgery on it again. To compound matters The company that I worked for decided that they didn't need 2 of the printing presses in our plant. So I along with 23 other folks got laid off. My only income is my Workmans Comp check and my wifes part time job. So I have avoided trying to lift (What feels like a 2000 lb lid) the lid on the big cooker at all costs. That would be all I need to have some PI take a picture of me lifting that lid and loosing my benefits. I am waiting until my shoulder is completely healed, then I will tackle  that monster in earnest. Until then I have been using My SRG, My Traeger, My 2 Bradley's, and my 22" Weber Platinum. So I'm good Just waiting to get all healed up. Then I can find a new job.

Sorry to hear about the job. That socks. I was surplused a couple years back and was on unemployment for 8 months. Not a good feeling. Especially when I had a 3 month old at the time. Good luck.

Be careful are two key words.  You have some other toys to keep the smoke rolling.
