This was so simple but so good!
Five chicken leg quarters cut into pieces, seasoned with some Smokin' Guns 'Sweet Heat'. Then put on to catch some Hickory smoke.

After 30 minutes of smoke, they were placed into a Dutch Oven and smothered in some homemade BBQ sauce. Bumped the pit temp to 365° to braise for a while.

Pulled when they reached about 175°. The fat rendered out very nicely.

YUM! Having braised in the sauce, they were still very moist. The skin was unbelievably tender doing it this way.

Some of the simplest yet best BBQ chicken I've ever eaten. Definitely a keeper!
Thanks for sneaking a peek!

Fantastic!

Looks good. I may give this one a try. One question: Do you cover the dutch oven while cooking or do you leave it open?

We left it open to soak up some more of that Hickory smoke! :)

I have done chix this way before except I toss em back on the grill after being in the sauce...the coals are well past their heat curve and they grill up nice........
Your chicken looks great...I am now officially hungry ;D

That chicken looks so good that I can imagine myself biting into it and tasting how flavorful it is. Great job.

Looks great. Almost like a "reverse sear" technique in some ways. Got to try it. Dee
