howdy ya'll.  i'm about to throw some spares on the green machine and am not sure how much wood (ozs) are you suppose to put on the fire?  i am having fun w/ it.  alot.   8)

Sparky..can't help ya..but I'm having the same problem with the Weber..I'm using too much charcoal , gotta cut back some.  Pam  .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.

Sparky..can't help ya..but I'm having the same problem with the Weber..I'm using too much charcoal , gotta cut back some.  Pam  .☆´¯`•.¸¸. ི♥ྀ.

you filling up the chimney all the way pam?  try just 1/2 a chimney and only using one of the charcoal baskets.  when you done shut off the vents and use the used coals in the next chimney you light off.  hope that helps.

Guessing 3 to 4 chunks of wood but it's a guess. 

Now something I do know, your spares always look great so save me a few bones to nibble on  ;)

I don't own a ceramic (YET) but I would think you could probably use about the same amount you do on your WSM.
I usually only use 4 to 5 chunks with my WSM.

I'd start w/ half of what you normally use...     Those things look to be sealed up pretty tight.

Sparky, I think these two hit the nail on the head. Play it safe, like Squirt said, those ceramics are very tight, so a little smoke goes a long way.

Pam if you are talking about a long cook ....this is how I did it when I had my Performer except I didn't use water in the pan.

thanks LA.  i went w/ 1 chunk and i think it was to much.  the ribs came out dark in color.  that tells me to much wood.  so next time i will use 1/2 the wood.  they were tasty though.   ;)
