Baby Back ribs for Mama
« Reply #-1 on: March 20, 2015, 09:15:14 PM »
Today would have been Mama's Birthday (our first without her) I would always cook her favorite Que food...ribs. Today was no exception.
After all the work I would do on them, she would set down and take a bite and say "These are good, but the Sizzler ribs are better"
I sure hope she is having Sizzler ribs today.......................

Used a couple of different rubs

Getting my coal base going with some Live Oak

On they go for 5 hours with no spritzing or wrapping..just meat, rub and oak smoke.....

Looks to be well worth the five hour wait

The Texas BBQ Bros ribs were way better than the ROR Buckaroo ones.........I sure wish Mama was here to bust my chops about my ribs............... :(

Great lookin' ribs, Smoke.  My mom just turned 80 on Saturday.  I cook for her and my dad every weekend, but these are the really special ones.  My mom wanted steaks, so a dozen filets went on the grill.

I'm sure your mom was looking over your shoulder and she was just happy that everyone there got a great meal!

What a great tribute to your Mom. I am sure she would think those were as good as Sizzler's. I always think of my Mom when I have a fish fry, that was her favorite thing.

Is this your first cook on the stick burner?

I did beef ribs a couple of weeks ago on it when Wendys Mom was up here for a visit. I also grilled some steaks on the grilling firebox for Pops birthday last week.  I got a neighbor two doors down that cuts me up live oak into mini splits, so I can run the offset rather cheaply. Just need warmer weather and a free day to use it  8)
