Yesterday I had the honor to take part in the 5th Southwest-German Grilling Competition as a judge again.
The teams had to prepare the following courses:
1. Bratwurst
2. Vegetarian starter
3. Salmon
4. Dessert
Here are some pictures showing the teams and their presentation plates:
Here are some impressions from the turn in boxes:
And here are the winners! Places 3-2-1 from the courses, 3-2-1 from the over all placements and at last place 1 from the fun and creativity challenge:
Bratwurst:
Vegetarian:
Salmon:
Dessert:
Over all championship:
Fun & creativity - Ahoi!
Congrats to all the teams!

Competitions cooks in Europe are much more into presentation than just using the dreaded KCBS box of green. It's high-end restaurant-quality work.
I first noticed that when I judged the World BBQ competition in Germany many years ago.

Very nice pictures of what was certainly a fun time WC!
And - it is nice to see that in the world of Outdoor Cooking - we are expanding beyond BBQ to grilling- and the Steak Cook-off Association has been holding some competitions in Germany also.
What could come next? Why not outdoor pizza competitions, or outdoor oven pastry "bake-offs"?

Great pictures and beautiful food presentation!
We eat with our eyes first so I think that it is really cool they spend the time on plating too.
