Received Fathers Day Cooking Device
« Reply #-1 on: June 19, 2015, 11:42:57 PM »
Received my Anova cooking device , my wife ordered it Monday during the 6 hour sale. Because of technical problems with the sale price she called Amazon and they corrected the issue and gave her free S&H. We got the shipping number but no shipping data until Wednesday and with a delivery date for Thursday.  Go it it today Friday, late, after it was handed off from UPS to US Postal Service, yesterday morning. So, no big deal free S&H don't expect expedience right. The package was sent from the origin late Wednesday night. I cant believe the devices shipping origin was from Petersburg, VA. less than 50 miles from my house.   Never ever be in a hurry when you receive Free S&H.  ???  ???
Tommarrow morning the Anova it will be put through its paces. I will be making a bag of eggs. I cant wait. ;)  ;)

Congratulations - what a great gift and a great wife!

The Anova is excellent and a bag o' eggs is very nice. But, if you like eggs - you gotta' try a poached egg, then do the poached egg, but under a gentle stream of warm water, wash the white away and roll the yolk in panko crumbs and deep fry... oh boy, that is good! I think for the first month I did almost nothing but eggs - they are so good. I've done a bunch of other stuff, but now I am riffing on fish - rainbow trout, steelhead, salmon, and tomorrow cod. Looking forward to trying walleye, perch, and bass - need to get to the lake! You are going to love that device! Nod to Backyard Jack...  ;) ;D

Congratulations!  You are now ready to enter the wonderful world of SV.  This gives you a whole new way to look at cooking.  As you have probably already seen, you can combine SV with other types of cooking.  Have fun , and enjoy the ride.

Congrats and condolences. You're going be too spoiled to enjoy most SV eligible foods ever again (that weren't cooked SV style.)

List of foods that I can't enjoy (well, not without thinking how much better they'd be if they were cooked SV)

*steak
*chicken breast
*steak
*scrambled eggs
*steak
*poached eggs
*steak
*any type of roast
*hot wings

Oh, and also steak.

I'm sure there will be more, but I've only had mine for about 3 months.
