No Swine Sails the High Seas!
« Reply #-1 on: October 06, 2012, 09:09:49 PM »

In our new nuclear submarine, "Blue October".

In it's paddock.

Out in the yard next to my driveway.   Crazy Ivan!

4 racks, approximately 34 square feet of cooking surface, reverse flow.

Time for the Christening...   (no Champagne bottles available, how about a 1/2 gallon of PAM instead)

Hal arrives with a trunk full of lump fuel and a couple turkeys.   Flame on!

First batch for 'seasoning' the beast.

No Stoker/Guru required here.   Just a $9 fan and a box.

Up to temp, time to cook!

Rib prep.

Couple chickens worth of 'parts'.

Lunch time rolls around, some biscuits to snack on.

A pair of 16 pound turkeys.

Chicken is finishing up.   Pulled the thighs to test the rub.

Hit the rest with some glaze, then pulled.

Pulled out a rack or 2 of ribs to glaze and wrap.

A few hours later...

Turkey time!

Ribby ribby.

Put the tips in a bag to tuck away for the next batch of beans, etc.

Got the fire out and everything buttoned up and put away before dark.

Fun day, but phew, I'm tired!

Heh..

That is not quite like any submarine I remember from back in the day!!  However, it is one fine looking grill!!  You could do some serious partying, or catering, with that bad boy!!  Thanks for sharing.

Art...   Bingo..   ;) ;)

T, my Ranger grunted/squatted a bit, but he was able to get it back up the driveway into dry dock.    Only lost one hubcap on the tour of the neighborhood.  ???

Biscuits were for snacking.   We never got hot enough to cook them properly, but they turned out edible.

We used a Maverick and a infrared gun to spot check the rack temps.

Very hungry, as it isn't insulated.   But very even cooking temps.  We were thrilled on how easy it was to control.

It's definitely larger.   8)

Sparky, I think we burned 2 1/2 bags of lump, including the initial burn in/seasoning.
