Rib Eyes
« Reply #-1 on: September 07, 2016, 10:11:11 AM »
We drive out to Menifee to a new Aldi's that opened up. Just can't beat the prices and quality. I always give their cryovac packed meats a gander whenever we go. I had two beautiful rib-eyes in my hand that I could not put down. We were gonna pick up something to eat before the drive home and we decided to wait to get home to have a sammich and have the rib-eyes for supper........turned out to be a good decision  :P

These were choice grade and marbled really nice. They got salt, pepper and garlic and onto the Akorn. I left the deflector plate in. I remember seeing a video where a guy did this on his Akorn so gave it a whirl. The steaks were started in the center and then moved to the edges of the grill where the deflector plate is notched in to let the heat and smoke rise. Came out great. Took just a little longer to cook, but we had no flare-ups and the steaks still got a nice char.

Wendy wrapped some asparagus up in bacon to put the final touches on a real good meal

Rocky tried to but his bid in for a morsel or two during the cook, he came real close with this attempt

Seems like Smoochie has been put on the back burner (pun intended) since you got the Akorn.  He ought to be right there on the side shelf helping you cook, right?

B T W, the steaks look mighty good.

Thanks all. The Aldi's steaks are choice grade and are really good. The baby backs there are meaty and good as well.

Nice work with the steaks!

And you must have a really strong will to avoid tossing tidbits to that character Rocky-- he's obviously absolutely starving TO DEATH in that photo. ;)

Aldi's is owned by Trader Joes. We were a little leery at first, but the quality on everything is outstanding. You can not beat their produce prices. They have cut our monthly grocery bill in half  :)
