Mid week skillet.
« Reply #-1 on: December 19, 2012, 08:39:22 PM »
This is a rare mid-week post for me but here we go!!

Instead of exchanging gifts this year we all went in on a Camp Chef Big Gas Grill with 3 burners. Also grabbed the 3 foot cast iron griddle. I am an old worn out fry cook and it was nice to get out the spatula again!! With all of us going in on this we saved a bunch of money and we got something we will use all year long!! The unit also came with a grill box with cast iron grates for gas grilling. Special thanks to Two Pockets for his honest advice. I remembered in his signature he had a Camp Chef so I looked him up and he pointed me in the right direction.

You know those breakfast joints that mix all that good breakfast grub together and call it a skillet breakfast? That's what I did!!

Chopped up some Farmer John sausage along with green onions and mushrooms. Browned some hash browns. Cooked the sausage and veggies and mixed em all together. Mixed in some eggs and BAM....Skillet!!

Smoke you are going to love that stove! With that 3 foot griddle you have the equivalent of those super Blackstone griddles plus you have the grill box and you can take both them off and you have 3 30,000 btu burners for all your frying needs, cooking shrimp and crab boils, etc. We hardly ever fry anything on our kitchen stove anymore. You can simmer a good pot of chili on it too. I have a 2 foot cast iron griddle for mine and 2 14 inch round griddles I use when I don't need the big one.

Looks great, smoke! I have one of the Blackstones and love it. The kids loving making breakfast and it works great for those thin diner style burgers. I even did a video making yaki soba on it - But, like Ken says - yours is much more versatile wish I had seen it before buying the Blackstone - look forward to some more cooks.

Now that's my kind of breakfast Smoke!!  Like many others, I too was a short order cook in my youth ... back in the late 1960s!  :)  My griddle and BBQ accessories only cover 2 of my burners leaving the third burner free.

Same unit we got Pete!!  A gal at Camp Chef told me they are close to releasing a pizza oven for the 2-3 burner models and a Grill box to fit over all -3- burners...gonna ask for that one for my birthday!!

Looks like a little more thought went into the Blackstone. The sides seem higher which is good and it doesn't seem to tilt forward as much as the Camp Chef. I thought the legs were uneven but nope, they stanted the grill like that on purpose for grease drainage!!
