you guys are hilarious :D. I am so glad we don't have a heat register otherwise it would have been filled with broccoli. My oldest daughter hated it soooo much and at some point while raising them, we also did that eat your veggies thing.

Peas and Lima beans used to make me gag when I was a kid. And my mother and father forced me to eat them so I hate them even more!

Lets just say the family dog was very healthy ;)

Lima beans.....that is cruel.

Beets were also torture in my house. I got busted filling my mouth with beets, and then casually excusing myself to the bathroom.  Should have locked the door.

And don't get me going on the hours spent looking at a bowl of split pea soup.....still too soon ???

To get back to the chicken, did you make the jerk marinade or did you use a store product?

made it. Not my original but it was really good.

1/2 cup malt vinegar (or white vinegar)
2 Tbsp dark rum (all I had was JD, it worked)
2 habaneros, with seeds, chopped or really hot peppers
1 red onion, chopped
4 green onion tops, chopped
1 Tbsp dried thyme
2 Tbsp olive oil
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
4 teaspoons ground allspice
4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
4 teaspoons ground nutmeg
4 teaspoons ground ginger
2 teaspoons molasses
1 (5 or 6 pound) roasting chicken, cut in half, lengthwise
1/2 cup lime juice over chicken before adding the above
Salt and pepper before cooking to taste.

Rad:  Chicken looks really good and I will have to try the Jerk.  How long did you marinate?  As a kid, we did not have a lot of money and I hated tomatoes, beets, cabbage, sauerkraut, and rutabagas, but usually ate everything else.  My tastes have changed and I like all but beets.
