Old School Spares and a Good Conversation
« Reply #-1 on: March 18, 2012, 08:20:28 PM »
It was a cold blustery day here in the valley and it would have been smart to use the electric smoker...but Smokeasaurus isn't the sharpest tool in the shed :o
I went old school and fired up the offset to do some spares. Then Bill came by to get his old Weber cook books and we sat out in the cold wind and talked BBQ!!
I sure wish you all could meet Bill. He is real knowledgeable about BBQ and well spoken and he is just a neat guy...I am glad to have him as a brother of the briquet!! Don't worry...Bill also got some pear wood to take home  8) You don't leave Smokes patio empty-handed. ;D
One more thing, I had no problems getting the Ribs out of the foil..don't believe a thing Bill tells ya!!!!  ::) ;D ::)

Fired up the off-set

Love the smell of peach smoke on a cool Sunday morning

Bill said they looked good and in case you are wondering Bill they tasted good as well!!!!

Nice looking ribs. great pull back on them bones!

Even though we use our Pellet grills most often, I still enjoy firing up one of the stick/charcoal burners. There's just something about tending the fire that satisfies that primal instinct deep inside.

I'll take your word for it on the taste, I have no way of knowing.

I picked up some of the Famous Dave's sauces at Target.  They were on clearance.  The Texas Pit and the Rich and Sassy were $1.60 a bottle and the Devil's Spit was $1.92 a bottle.  They were all marked down from $2.35 a bottle so it wasn't quite the bargain I was hoping for.  On the other hand, they cost $3.50 a bottle on the Famous Dave's web site.  I'll give 'em a try in the near future.  I also picked up a huge jar of Famous Dave's spicy pickle chips at Costco.  You're right, they're really good.

Oh, and by the way, have you gotten the ribs out of the foil yet?
