A Rescue from the Bone Yard or.....
« Reply #-1 on: April 03, 2012, 11:22:06 PM »
A new Charcoal Eater for me!!

As some of the guys know I have been in discussions with a friend of the family about a cooker that I seen parked back in the weeds (Like for the past 7-8 years worth) Comes to find out they is thinking on selling it for SCRAP!! Now just hold on I says. I can bring that ole girl back to life and get some good use out of it. After some discussions I was told alright come get the dang thing. I brought her home today. She's kind of an UGLY DUCKLING right now but give me some time!! ;D

Pulling into the back yard

The cooking surface

The fire boxes

Pulled out

The breathing vents there's one on each side in front of the fire boxes

The exhaust

All opened up Yes that is a 4x4 holding that 5000 lb lid up.

Yes this also has panels for clamping down TWO 250lb hogs!!

Last but not least. SHE IS ALIVE!!! (The pulley is spinning a lot faster than it looks in the video my phone couldn't catch it fast enough) Click on the picture for the video. Thanks for looking!

The inaugural party for that puppy could even be worth the trip to that I-state* you live in (if I can find it and SWMBO is in a good - or really bad - mood)!

* An I-state is defined in Hawaii as one of those places that we have no idea where they are but seem to all be (to us, anyway) in the Midwest.  They include every place from Ohio through Indiana, Illinois, and Iowa, all the way to Idaho.

I see lots of potential there (and, of course, a lot of work too).  Fixed up, that's gonna' be a nice cooker.

Chris, You are going to have a ball with that.  Can't wait to see the final product.  Dee
