Surf and turf...
« Reply #-1 on: July 03, 2014, 12:30:25 AM »
... sous vide boneless ribeye, and grilled shrimp

Shrimp were marinated in lime juice, cilantro, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, garlic, and olive oil - then a dipping sauce with the same ingredients - the beef after the hot water bath, but before the sear (we ate most of the shrimp - couldn't wait  ::) )

Working on a good sear

... done just the way we like it

Oh, yes!!  That looks mighty good!!

How long did you marinate the shrimp?  Were they pretty well "cooked" using the lime juice?  I have one of those Himalayan Pink Salt Blocks that I have been wanting to try out, starting with some shrimp.  This might just be the marinade to try them with.

We left the shell on so the lime didn't cook as you would expect as in ceviche. I like my shrimp on the rare side because they are so tender that way, and these were just right. When eating, we suck the juices out of the shell, then peel, dip, and eat (my mother got me started on that). As to time in the marinade, about 15 minutes or so.

We only ate one of the steaks, so breakfast this morning is steak and eggs.  :)

Perfect all the way around! Not only a great meal but a wonderful breakfast - nice runny yolk eggs?

Of course!

Because we were still full from the prior evening, we actually had this for dinner with the leftover steak plus hash browns, eggs, and grilled okra
