Title: Directions to the fall cookout (reposted from Dee's thread on SOTG)
Post by: TMB on August 28, 2012, 01:46:48 PM
Here are the directions and info on getting to the Central Christian Church Recreation Association Campground the location of the 2012 Gathering.  Take I-20 toward Augusta, GA and take Exit 183.(Just as a point of reference the GA/SC state line is at mile marker 200 in GA.  The mile marker of the intersection of I-185 and I-20 on the east side of Atlanta is mile marker 67  When you exit at Exit 183 head north. If you are coming from Atlanta you would take a left.  If coming from SC you would take a right.  Go 11.5 miles and you will come to Ridge Road.  Take a right and go 3.6 miles and you will see the sign and the entrance to the campground on the right.  I will have signs marking the way.  They will be Red on a White background with an arrow pointing the direction. The sign will say ''SOTG" with the directional arrow.  If you are using GPS the nearest address is 6071 Ridge Road, Leah, GA 30802  and is about 150 yards short of the campground entrance.
Now some info and distances to stores.  Within 4 miles are four convience stores the type which you would normally find around a lake.  There is a great Publix 13.1 miles.  A Super WalMart 16.7 miles. A Sports Academy is 18.5 miles. This place is very easy to find: Exit I-20 at Exit 183; go north 11.5 miles; turn right on Ridge Road go 3.6 miles and you are there.  Dee

Is there a street address that could be punched into a GPS?

Dee puts the signs out at the exit on the off ramp of I-20. Just follow the signs. I forgot my directions last year and just followed the signs to the camp ground. Didn't need directions.  You can't miss it coming from I-20 East. Signs say SOTG with an arrow pointing the way.  Pam ; *))

Turtle - sometimes "The lights are on - but nobody's home" is metaphor that applies when one is *not* in Hawaii....It just has to be late enough on the East Coast.... :D :D :D
