9/24-9/26. 3 days of 40 teams smoking pork butts, chickens, ribs and briskets. All net proceeds go to charity. There are another 50 or so vendors selling pretty much any other kind of food you can imagine. On Saturday are the BBQ contests. Two divisions, circuit cookers and backyard cookers. The circuit cookers will be cooking pork butts, chickens, ribs and whole hogs. It's all for bragging rights as every net proceed cent goes to charity. 40,000 folks expected over the three days. Over 80,000 pounds of pork and chickens cooked.
I am aware that some members of this Forum as well as the Bradley Smoker Forum are planning to attend. The website is www.bbqontheriver.org If you are interested in attending you can PM me here and I will assist in any manner I can. Food, music, seeing old friends and making new ones.
Last year I know the dates coincided with the Forum's annual Fall Gathering. Not sure if that is the same this year and I am certainly not trying to pull anyone away from the Fall Gathering. Just giving members another option.

If you need any judges, let me know. My wife and I are both BBQ judges for KCBS. I know this is not a sanctioned event, but we could be available to judge.

Don't count your chickens (or, more properly, monkeys) yet, Tommy. Given his record, I'd say you've got about a 50% chance. I can list several similar occasions when I haven't met him - you might take a razor with you but there's no need for you to shave your legs before you get there.

I forgot one very important attendee. His name is SSGT Brad Alexander. Brad is my good friend who lost his left leg to a young lady who chose to blow herself up in Iraq. We have been friends for years and one day I ran into him and he said "I brought a brand new smoker home from my Dad's. Do you know anything about this particular brand? It's a Bradley."

If your going to be with us at the BBQ on the river, Do bring a cooler. I will have some vac sealed SS chubs, sticks that you will need to keep cold. The dry will be vac sealed and a good idea to keep cold also. I'm hoping the dry i have hanging now get done in time.

Our good friends from Bradley Smoker and MAK Grills have sent along some nice giveaways to the folks coming to BBQ on the River this year. Please be sure to express your thanks to those folks. These acts of kindness are what make us all Brothers and Sisters in the Smoking/BBQ World. Huge corporations wouldn't have a clue.
UPDATE: As of now 4 attendees are now judging some class of meat. More to come.

Caramel Apple Mini-cheesecakes with Streusel topping for Paducah.

Yes, alcohol was involved in the making of these mini-cheesecakes. I had some Calvados Cream left in the bottle. They sure do look and smell good.
BTW. I am also made some fudge using the recipe that Dee posted, called Jack Daniels Fudge. I was out of Jack, and since I am headed to Kentucky, I thought it only appropriate to use a Kentucky bourbon, Buffalo Trace. I am calling my version Buffalo Fudge. It is really good. That will be in my cooler, too.

Great time at the River. Good Tommy, Kimmie and mollie came and Chrystals brother Rob and his wife Lisa. Next year we gotta get our friends from Iowa here.

Had a WONDERFUL time with the gang. Finally met Pat and Hal and here better halfs, Chrystal's brother Rob and his wife and Larry and Jan
Art and his wife were there and Rick and Chrystal plus others . We had the best time, ate really good food and sweets (thanks Art) ;)

We had a really good time. Seems quite a few people brought goodies to share. I had a few goodies that I already posted previously. I tried a new bourbon on this trip. It is called Angels Envy. It is 86.6 proof and is finished in port wine barrels. It is sooo smooth. I bought 2 bottles tonight, much to my wife's chagrin. Tee, I'll try to save you a taste.
