Wasn't sure where to post this, but apparently Brinkmann is related/affected by the filing discussed in the link below.

On another forum, a person noted that they were told by Brinkmann customer service that "they could not honor customer service issues due to the bankruptcy". I cannot verify the validity to that statement but just wanted to share as a heads up.

taken directly from their warranty page
On October 8, 2015, Outdoor Direct Corporation, formerly known as, The Brinkmann Corporation (“Company”) filed for chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code in the Delaware Bankruptcy Court. This action was taken to complete the orderly wind down and liquidation of the Company. As such, Outdoor Direct Corporation is no longer able to honor prepetition—before October 8, 2015—warranty claims and the Company is no longer offering replacement parts free of charge. If you have a warranty claim, you may file a proof of claim with the official claims agent appointed by the bankruptcy court, Kurtzman Carson Consultants LLC (“KCC”). Proofs of claim forms and instructions may be obtained by visiting www.kccllc.net/Malibu or by calling, 866-967-0499 or +1-310-751-2699 (outside of the U.S.). Please note, KCC cannot advise creditors or potential creditors how to file, or whether one should file, a proof of claim.

That's sad, a company that size going under. Well, hate to see it happen to them.
My first smoker was a Brinkmann and it worked well.

Dang!
I hope we're not responsible for this with all the talk about how cheap their cookers are.
just sayin'...

My first smoker was an upright electric Brinkmann - it's what got me hooked.
Got to figure someone is going to pick up the brand name and perhaps some of the designs.

Char-Broil is an interesting company - established many years ago and survived. Later built a reputation for poor quality, but some products, e.g. 500X, SRG, new Kettleman, New Electric Smoker are quite solid, well made and look to last a long time. I think too much turnover in exec and product management positions.

It s amazing, Tommy. Many years ago I worked for Johnson Wax Professional - we made the cleaning products used by professional cleaners and end users. I was amazed at how many folks working there had NEVER cleaned a building. Now it is worse - you need to have an MBA to be hired but NO industry experience. JCW used to be the leader - now a poor follower. How difficult is this to understand?
